Join the 2023 Elgar Festival Chorus to sing Sir Edward’s heartfelt composition and much loved work THE MUSIC MAKERS in the Festival GALA CONCERT.

We invite experienced singers to commit to a limited number of highly focussed rehearsals during April and May with Chorus Master STEPHEN SHELLARD leading to the performance in WORCESTER CATHEDRAL on SATURDAY 3 JUNE with the ENGLISH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and conductor KENNETH WOODS.

Set in the composer’s home town and surrounds over the four days closest to Elgar’s birthday, the Festival comprises symphonic and string orchestra concerts by the resident ENGLISH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, along with chamber concerts, choral concerts, recitals, workshops, street performances, exhibits, tours and talks.

Venues include Worcester Cathedral, Royal Porcelain Works, the Guildhall, Malvern Priory, St. Martin’s, London Road, St Martin in the Cornmarket.

Since its inauguration in 2018 – when it was a
Critic’s Pick in both the Guardian and The Times – the Festival has doubled in size and scale through an innovative development programme of appealing events. New initiatives for 2023 include a Young Composers Competition, Conducting Masterclasses, and the welcome return of late night music at Club Elgar, the Elgar for Everyone Family Concert (this year in Worcester Cathedral) and the highlight Festival Gala Concert with the English Symphony Orchestra and Elgar Festival Chorus featuring
The Music Makers and Symphony No.1.
