Young Singers Masterclass
In a new event for 2025, the Elgar Festival is delighted to announce the launch of our Young Singers Masterclass, open to singers aged 18 – 25
Held at The Firs, Lower Broadheath on Tuesday 27th May 2025, 6 young singers will be selected by audition to work with renowned American soprano April Fredrick and Festival Composer-in-Residence Ian Venables, with accompanists Elizabeth Haughan and Rebecca Watson, on English Song repertoire of their choice. The morning session involves individual coaching, feedback and advice, and after lunch all 6 students will perform in a more formal concert setting.
Both sessions are open to the public and offer a wonderful opportunity to learn and be inspired in the beautiful setting of Elgar’s birthplace.
To apply, please send a short covering letter and video audition of the song you wish to work on to: singforjoy@gmail.com. Repertoire should be chosen from the works of either Elgar, Ian Venables or an English Song composer of their choice.
In keeping with the Festival’s ethos of ‘Elgar For Everyone’, this is a free event.
The closing date for applications is Fri 4 April 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 18 April and all piano parts/vocal scores must be submitted by Friday 25 April
