Young Strings Masterclass
Held in the inspirational surroundings of Elgar’s Birthplace, this free event offers 6 talented young string players the opportunity work with Nick Trygstad, Head of Strings at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, focusing on technique and interpretation. Free entry to observers throughout the masterclass and for the afternoon culmination.
Masterclass is from 11am – 1pm with a performance by all players after lunch at 2pm, both sessions open to the public.
Take part. Auditions are open to players of all string instruments aged 13+ and of Grade 6 standard or higher. Players wishing to participate are asked to submit a covering letter and video recording of the piece they wish to study to sue@elgarfestival.org
Repertoire should be an English Miniature by Elgar, or another British composer and the closing date for entries is Monday 13 April 2025
Any students accepted who are under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/carer throughout the day.
There is no charge to participate.
Little Al’s Café at The Firs will be open for drinks and lunches.
Normal Admission applies to the gardens and Elgar’s Birthplace Cottage.
