Festival Evensong

This year’s choice of music represents some of the best compositions written for Cathedral music.  International concert organist David Briggs’ responses were commissioned by the Cathedral Chamber Choir for the 3 Choirs Festival in 2014. Sir George Dyson’s effusive Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis and of course, music from Worcester’s own Edward Elgar. They are at Rest was written in memory of Queen Victoria in 1910 and Great is the Lord received its first performance in Westminster Abbey in July 1912.

Worcester Cathedral’s Evensong service concludes with the annual wreath laying ceremony under the Elgar Memorial Window, bringing the 2026 festival to a close.
